Virginia’s workplace readiness skills will be used throughout several classes including English and Math. Essential statewide competencies are required of all students.

» Theses include:

(1) Reading skills on a level required for employment in a chosen career field.
(2) Math skills on a level required for employment in a chosen career field.
(3) Writing skills on a level required for employment in a chosen career field.
(4) Speaking/listening skills on a level required for employment in a chosen career field.
(5) Computer literacy on a level required for employment in a chosen career field.
(6) Reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
(7) Understanding of the big picture.
(8) A strong work ethic.
(9) A positive attitude.
(10) Independence and initiative.
(11) Self-presentation skills.

Computer Repair: Computer Systems Technology I 8622

The A+ ® Support Team exists to deliver exceptional customer service and technical support with regard to the products and services provided by The American Education Corporation. This is accomplished by: individual and team commitment to ongoing growth and education; and every team member utilizing their skills and taking the latitude and responsibility to treat a customer problem as their own.

Cosmetology

  • Two year cosmetology program prepares students for the Cosmetology exam.

SVCC Night Classes

Nurse Aide: Enroll in these classes to prepare to take the Certified Nursing Assistant exam. Classes meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Classes meet on some Saturdays also for clinical training. (First Aid/CPR class meets on Wednesday nights). CPR certification is also a requirement for the nurse aid program.

Auto Body Repair: Take this class that offers training in Auto Body Repair I and II to gain skills to jump start your own business or do it yourself projects on you own vehicles. Meet Thursday evenings.

Cosmetology: Classes meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evening during the Spring. Students are required to attend each of these evenings during the semester. Cosmetology is a two year program.
