School Policy 2 TARDIESIf a student is late for school, he/she must come to the office, sign in, and get a pass to class. Three (3) or more unexcused tardies in one semester could result in disciplinary action. If the student is tardy due to his/her county provided transportation, it will be an excused tardy. The office will determine if the tardy is excused or unexcused. EARLY DISMISSALSIf a student needs to leave early, he/she must have a note from his/her parent/guardian. This note must state the time, reason, who will be picking up the student and the relationship to the student. It must also have a phone number that will be used to verify all the information. The adult designated in the note must come to the office to sign that student out. Eighteen-year-old students will not be allowed to sign themselves out. Students must sign out when leaving in the office with the school Clerk. RETURN TO HOME SCHOOL Before students are recommended to return to their home school, the following will be considered:

If a student comes to school on county provided transportation, he/she must leave the same way unless a verifiable note from the parent/guardian states otherwise. In the event of lengthy bus delays or breakdowns, the parent/guardian will be notified. TELEPHONEThe office phone is only available for emergencies. SUSPENSIONSWhen a student is suspended, a letter will be sent home Phone contact will also be attempted to advise the parent/guardian of the suspension. If a student returns to school before his/her suspension is up, he/she will be trespassing and the proper authorities will be called to remove that student from school grounds. DISCIPLINARY COUNSELING/ACTION Students that come to the Alternative School should come with the understanding that this is not a regular school. If you do not obey the rules and regulations, you will be subject to immediate suspension or dismissal. Disciplinary Counseling is a formal or informal means by which the staff may address inappropriate student behavior. Disciplinary Counseling addresses a specific incident or inappropriate behavior, defines consequences for the behavior, elicits appropriate alternative behaviors and defines a means of monitoring future occurrences of the behavior. In many instances, Disciplinary Counseling is informal and need only be documented at the staff’s/instructor’s discretion. Disciplinary action will be the responsibility of the Director. BUS BEHAVIORStudents are expected to abide by the rules regarding safety and behavior as defined by your local school system and/or bus driver. Seats may be assigned to students riding the bus if the Director finds it necessary. If a student is suspended from riding the bus, it will be the student’s parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to furnish appropriate transportation to and from the PAS. Students may not ride on another county’s transportation. Changing clothes on the bus to and from school is strictly prohibited. WORK RELEASE Students who have a verifiable job may qualify for work release. This privilege could be revoked if he/she does not comply with all requests from the Director or Guidance in a timely manner.
